The cod consistently receives praise for its freshness and quality, making each bite a joy. Additionally, I can't overlook the allure of their Irish curry sauce. It's a crowd favorite that pairs excellently with chips, offering a unique taste that's hard to resist.
Many visitors also highlight the friendly demeanor of the staff, who contribute to a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere. That warm service coupled with great food creates an environment you want to revisit.
While many love the offerings at Waterloo Chippy, some customers have noted inconsistencies in the chips' softness. A few reviews mention that the chips could have been cooked a bit longer to achieve that perfect flakiness. However, that hasn’t deterred everyone, as they still appreciate the overall flavor and quality of the food.
Another point of contention is the establishment's hours—closed on weekends—which can be inconvenient for those looking to enjoy their favorite fish and chips after a busy week. Yet, the exceptional quality during their operating hours keeps many fans loyal and eager to return.
Excellent sized portion of chips especially as English chippers tend to be on the smaller size portion. The Irish curry sauce is fantastic. The cod was a good size and tasted fresh. The staff are very polite and happy. They do accept card which is helpful however use cash where possible . Very good value for money.
Card payments accepted. Walked in very friendly staff. The gravy is so nice! Thick but not too thick and loads of flavour. I thought my chips could have been so softer they seemed a little undercooked but they were fine.
Fish cooked to order. Fish are large and great quality. Chips good too. Not open at weekends
Very tasty and gave me two regular fish because they didn't have any large fish. Top notch!
